Open Farms in the Ariege

Today we go to several "open farms" in the Ariege.

Wonderful gardens. 

This farm raises sheep for the meat and milk. And cheese.

Above is a cheese making tour in progress. Notice the pipes. These are solar water pipes that heat water for the post-milking clean up.

Below is the cheese processing building. The bark insulates the cheese cave. What a lovely way to do it!!

We ate lunch here.

Lamb skewers and merguez sausages. Potatoes - which are better here, flavorful. Sheep’s milk yogurt and onion sauce.

Bread. Wine.

Finished off with a typical french dessert - a selection of cheeses. All wonderful!
